I try not to keep much candy around the house because we will eat it.  And our bodies do not need the sugar or the high fructose corn syrup on a regular basis.  Some would say ever, but I say, there are extreme times that call for extreme measures…you know what I am talking about.

Anyway, I saw this today on a friend’s Facebook blog and thought I would share it.  Because we all want to be loved and wanted (just like we want our starbursts to all be pink, but not yellow!).

It was a great reminder to me that God loves us and wants us – He sees us as “pink starbursts,”  special and wonderful and loved …God loves us so much and I hope you feel that love today!

” But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.”  Ephesians 2:4-5

Pass It Ons (& a Giveaway)

Pass It Ons (& a Giveaway)

Today for “Wonderful Wednesdays,” I want to share one of my favorite all time things- “Pass It Ons.”

I was introduced to them at an early age.  They are sweet little cards that you can include in a letter or a lunch box to encourage or brighten someone’s day.  I remember getting them in the mail from my aunt at an early age.  They have been taped to  my mirror, placed on my nightstand, put in my lunchbox…you get the idea.  They are little bits of encouragement that can be put anywhere!

We happened upon this perpetual calendar a few years ago and while I don’t think it was designed specifically for Pass It Ons, they fit perfectly!  And I can change them out when I want/need a new verse of encouragement!  image

I even found a Pass It On from one of my best friends from high school.  She was notorious for giving us these little cards to encourage us as Christians in a secular world.  I keep it on my desk next to my perpetual calendar.  It still encourages me all these years later!

(Sorry it is sideways…I am still new to this blogging thing…)

So today for Wonderful Wednesday, I am going to offer another small giveaway!  In the comments below, tell me what has encouraged you lately (a Bible verse, a word, whatever!) and you will be entered in a drawing to win an envelope filled with Pass It Ons to encourage yourself and others!  (I will choose a winner Thursday night!)

And while you are at it…encourage someone today!  I read this in my quiet time this morning and was encouraged to keep on and to encourage others to do the same:

“Encourage one another and build one another up…”  1 Thessalonians 5:11

His and Hers

The Christmas Card Picture 05

Ruthie was such an easy baby.  She was so predictable.  She would nurse every 3 hours, then sleep for at least an hour.  She was always happy, loved to sit on my lap, cuddle and be read to.  Our life just consisted of nursing, reading and napping.  Seriously, I had a dream first child.

Ruthie was so much fun for me!  She would let me dress her in whatever I wanted.  She wore shoes that never touched the floor.  She wore tights and hats.  She was the perfect little accessory to our family!

Dustin enjoyed Ruthie too, but he was not with her day in and day out.  Plus Ruthie and I are girls so we just go together – mother and daughter.

I was so excited for Dustin when we were expecting Daniel because now he could have his own little person.  Daniel for Dustin and Ruthie for me.  His and her children!

But instead of getting his and her offspring, Dustin and I found ourselves with his and her ways of grieving our loss of Daniel.

Here is where I am going to confess that if Dustin thought I was emotional during “that time of the month” before Daniel died, he had seen nothing yet.  My emotions were so unpredictable after Daniel died. I sometimes cringe to think of how I might have behaved.   Read more

Fabulous Friday

Fabulous Friday

Today was a fabulous day – why fabulous, you ask?  Because I got to spend it with these gals:image

God has truly blessed our family in the female department.  Today the girls and I went to Abingdon with Mama and Sister and Baby A.  We were celebrating birthdays since everyone in the car (except me) turns another year older in June or July.  How much fun is that?!!?

Don’t worry – I still celebrate my birthdays…they just come in the fall of the year…not the summer like these lovely ladies!

Tomorrow we get to celebrate the littlest lady turning one and I get the honor or painting her toe nails pink for their first birthday celebration…that what you do when you are her “Favorite Aunt Daphne.”

Yes, I know I am her only Aunt Daphne.

The Lord is so good to give us the people in our lives who we need and I am thankful that these gals are my people.  They are truly blessings to me!

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you…”  Philippians 1:3

It’s a Wonderful Wednesday!

It’s a Wonderful Wednesday!

Tonight I want to share with you two wonderful things:

  1.  I read this joke today and I have thought about it and laughed out loud more times than I should probably confess…here goes:

There are three kinds of people in this world –

those who can count and those who can’t.

I may be alone in this (or just super tired), but that was some sort of funny to me.  (Yes, I am a math nerd at heart.)

2.  The link is up and working on this website to purchase my book online!  Hooray!!!  So you can go to the book page and click buy now and buy as many copies as you would like…let’s just say that PayPal and I have gone round and round…but alas, it is working like I hoped it would…praise the Lord!

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28

I’ve Got My Game Face On…

I’ve Got My Game Face On…

Hey all you out there on the world wide web…just a little update.

My books did arrive on Friday and I have taken them to a few local venues:

Boone Drug

Cornerstone Bookstore

For Heaven’s Sake

Appalachian Auto Glass

Martha Mae’s Emporium

If anyone would like to purchase one online, I hope to have that ready in a day or two.  Thank you for your patience with me, the non-computer friendly person.

In the meantime, you can watch the book trailer that Bob McManus of Hill City Productions made for us…

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21

So this Friday I had planned to post about the little lady who turned six this week or possibly even about the little ladies because I really like them a lot…that’s what I tell them.

“I sure do like you a lot.”

They have started responding to that with, “I love you, too, Mom.”

But here is where I have to confess to you that all day Thursday I thought it was Friday.  Then on Friday, I knew it was Friday because we had a heap of things to do.  But never to worry because the books weren’t coming on Friday because I had not gotten my little phone call 24 hours before delivery to tell me they were coming.  So it was okay to have a good number of things planned for the day of Fri.

However, after my quiet time on Friday I had decided to e-mail the printing company to see if they could get a tracking number for me because next week there were certain days that I could not be available for book pick up at this point.  If I could find out the expected delivery date, then I could re-arrange whatever was on the schedule.

So when she e-mailed me back at 1pm and said, “They are out for delivery today,” I nearly quit breathing…where was my 24 hour notice???!?

So I called the loading dock where they were to be delivered and gave everyone the heads up and went onto the public library for the summer reading program kick off.  And as soon as I walked into the library, my phone started ringing with an odd number.

I answered to a man’s voice telling me that he was fifteen minutes away with a delivery for me.  Was I at the delivery location?

In fifteen minutes I was!image

And so today’s post is just a rambling to say, “I have the books!”  But I have not set up my online purchasing option yet.  I am going to work on that this weekend.  I do have three (and possibly a fourth) local venders who I will deliver books to later today or Monday.

Thanks to everyone who is walking this journey with me…I am in awe of what God has done so far with this book project and I cannot wait to see what He does next!
